Santogold changes name to "SANTIGOLD"

Santogold is dead, long live Santigold! The Brooklyn-based electro-rap star has – yes, indeed – changed her name.

"Change the graffiti on the bathroom wall, get your tattoo fixed, get your T-shirt airbrushed and change the name on your year-end list," reads the singer's press release. "Santogold is now Santigold. She's not telling you why, that's just how it is."

However, the reason behind the name change isn't difficult to figure out.

Santogold – the musical artist, she of Creator and L.E.S. Artistes – was sued last year by Santo Gold, a jeweller, filmmaker and infomercial-based salesman. And it seems she has given in.

The other Santo Gold – the one who is keeping the "o" – is infamous for his low-budget 1985 film, Santo Gold's Blood Circus. The movie is a wrestling-themed science fiction flick, with aliens from the planet Zoran fighting the US and USSR. It was, perhaps unsurprisingly, never released.

Santo Gold – also known as Santo Rigatuso, or even allegedly as Bob Harris – still made use of the movie, inserting clips into infomercials for his jewelry business.
