It has been revealed that Rihanna's smash hit single "Umbrella" (which 'reigned' on the UK Singles Chart for 10 weeks) was originally meant for Britney Spears! I can't imagine Britney singing on Rihanna's signature track but it would of been cool to hear Britney's version!

Rhianna’s number one smash hit song, ‘Umbrella,’ was originally written for Britney Spears, according to reports.

The revelation has emerged after the song’s creator, American music producer Tricky Stewart, told another one of his artists that Britney Spears never got back to him about the track, reports WENN.

Singer and songwriter Taio Cruz revealed: "I was working with Tricky in his studio the day he finished Umbrella. As soon as I heard it I said, 'That is a smash, I have to have it,' but he told me it was on hold for Britney.”

This is the "official" album cover for Booty Luv's debut album, according to sources. It's an OK cover, nothing special - just OK. It pretty much sums up Booty Luv, fun-loving and a bubble-gum pop/dance act. I like these girls and the album might be something I will pick up when it's released this Autumn.

The Fugees look set never to reunite after Pras lashed out at bandmate Lauryn Hill in an exclusive Hip-Hop magazine. Pras said the following...

“Before I work with Lauryn Hill again, you will have a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and [George W.] Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies, before there will be a Fugees reunion,” Pras told AllHipHop.com. “At this point I really think it will take an act of God to change her, because she is that far out there.”

It's said that Pras feels this way about Lauryn after all the success they had with eachother, along with other member Wycelf Jean. I wonder how things will pan out in the future for Pras and Lauryn, and despite Lauryn's personal struggles in the last decade - I know she can come back as strong as ever.

Superstar Beyoncé will return to December to record her third studio album. It seems this girl never relaxes! She is still promoting her current album "B'Day" and the singles are still charting worldwide and there is such a thing of overexposure. Perhaps she is taking lessons out of Rihanna's book and releasing albums as fast as possible. It works for Rihanna, but I can't see it working out for Beyoncé. Watch this video for confirmation...

Kelly Rowland - Ghetto [Official 2nd Single]

Kelly Rowland's recent album "Ms. Kelly" might not have set the charts alight but she is still pursuing the project and is releasing 2 singles at the same time. At the beginning of August it was reported "Comeback" and "Work" would be the new singles but it now it has surface that it will be "Ghetto" and "Work" as the new singles! "Ghetto" will serve as the next U.S single whilst "Work" will be released to international market. "Ghetto" features a short rap from Snoop Dogg and is a good song, but I prefer "Comeback". The album was released 2 months ago now, and still no video for the second single has appeared! Kelly needs to pull her act together with these singles or the "Ms. Kelly" project may be in serious jeapordy!

Swedish popstar Robyn has reportedley been approached by Britney Spears to work on Britney's new album. Robyn, who is currently #1 in the UK Charts with her track "With Every Heartbeat", has already recorded with Britney before. Metro has posted this article on their website and also tells about what music Robyn is liking at the moment. The article said the following...

"Britney Spears has apparently asked Scandinavian singer Robyn to pen her a new song. Robyn told the Daily Star: "I've been approached about writing a new song for Britney and I'm cool with that. I've written for her before but it only got to the recording stages, so doing it again would be a good move for me. I'd like to think I could help." The 28-year-old also revealed that she's a fan of Rihanna's chart-topper Umbrella. "I love Umbrella by Rihanna," she added. "I know it got on some people's nerves but there's something really fresh and modern about that song. "I respect artists like Lily Allen and Kate Nash but they're not what I play on my stereo."

The song itself is a generic R&B mid-tempo ballad but Samantha's vocals are really sweet and delicate and it should do well. I really like this photo. It's mature and grown-up and a vast difference from the way they used to look. 2007 has been a busy year for the Spice Girls - Mel B's baby drama with Eddie Murphy, Victoria's move to L.A. and the birth of Emma Bunton's baby, Beau. Monica confirms Pregnancy

R&B Singer Monica Arnold has confirmed she is pregnant with her second child. The father is clearly expected to ber her long-term partner Rodney 'Rock' Hill Jr, with whom she has a child already with - Lil' Rock. This will be interesting to see what will happen with her forthcoming 5th Studio Album. Earlier on in the year, Monica claimed she was to release a record fast within a year ot two after her last CD "The Makings Of Me", which was only certified Gold in the States. But congratulations to her, she deserves happiness after a year of hard work with TMOM!

50 Cent to "quit" music industry?

50 Cent has said this is a recent interview...

"American rapper 50 Cent has threatened to stop releasing solo material if his next album fails to outsell a new CD by rival star Kanye West.
"Let's raise the stakes," 50 Cent said, as the pair prepared to launch rival albums on the same day next month.
He promised if West's sales beat those of his own release, he would not produce any more solo albums.
He told hip-hop website SOHH.com that he would continue to collaborate with other artists, however.
"If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music," 50 Cent said.
"I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out any more solo albums." "

If this is true, then 50 is really silly. Kanye West hasn't been a rival to 50 Cent before, and he is just going too far now. With Kanye West's single "Stronger" doing really well (#6 US, almost #1 in the UK) and 50 Cent's singles flopping on the Pop & Rap charts, 50 Cent might have to live up to his promise and quit being a solo artist forever... the fool!

Spice Girl superstar Emma Bunton has given birth to her first child today. Her baby, named Beau, is said to be a delight to her and boyfriend Jade Jones. Fox news reports the following...

"The 31-year-old Spice Girls singer gave birth to a son, Beau, at London's Portland Hospital on Friday, a spokesman said.

He is the first child for Bunton and boyfriend Jade Jones."

Emma Bunton is the forth Spice Girl to have a child, and its good timing - due to the reunion tour later on in the year. Victoria Beckham (3 children), Melanie Brown (2 children) and Geri Halliwell (1 child) are all mothers whilst Melanie Chisholm is yet to become a mother.

Christina Aguilera Cancels Tour!

Pop superstar has had to cancel the rest of her "Back To Basics" tour, it has been revealed today. It has been announced that she is suffering from a severe case of the flu and hopefully other dates can be rescheduled for the cancelled tour dates. One news reporter claimed that Chrsitina has fainted once or twice. Many are thinking that her pregnancy is causing Christina to be so ill, which is a shame. I hope she gets well soon!

Backstreet Boys - Inconsolable [New Single]

The HQ CD-Quality version of Backstreet Boys new single "Inconsolable" leaked today. After being debuted on US Radio yesterday, the track seems to be popular. It's a good track, laid-back and the typical sound we expect from the guys. It's not as slow and slushy as "Incomplete" or "I Want It That Way" but it's no upbeat song like "Backstreet Boys". I really like it and it's going to do well due to their large fan base, but I think this song will attract new fans. It's grown-up, accesible and radio-friendly. It's taken from their new album, to released before Christmas.

The best selling boyband of all time is returning this Autumn with a brand new single and album! Despite losing a member earlier this year, Billboard magazine reports that the band will continue to record with eachother as a four-piece! Billboard magazine reports the following....

"After an extended break and the loss of original member Kevin Richardson, the Backstreet Boys will return Oct. 30 with their next, as-yet-untitled studio album for Jive Records. The first single, the piano-heavy rock ballad "Inconsolable," will hit U.S. radio outlets Aug. 27."

This is very exciting news. I'm a big BBS fan and like all their songs, and I can't wait for this. After well over a decade in the business, these guys have never failed to deliver. Can't Wait!

Rihanna feat. Ne-Yo - Hate That I Love You [New Single]

Rihanna is releasing her duet with Ne-Yo as the fourth single from her amazing "Good Girl Gone Bad" album. The track, "Hate That I Love You", is a bittersweet ballad and althought not being the most interesting of songs, its still a pleasent track and would do well in the charts. Def Jam are really pumping money into this project and have already produced expensive videos for 3 songs already - "Umbrella", "Shut Up And Drive" and "Don't Stop The Music". Doubtless, Def Jam will pull out the stops for "Hate That I Love You" but I still think Rihanna is rushing these singles out too fast. "Just A Little Bit" is rumored to be the next single off Mutya Buena's debut album "Real Girl". The Ex-Sugababe has already experienced chart success in the last year and I wonder if her next single will be as successful as the others. Althought "B-Boy Baby" (With Amy Winehouse) and "Strung Out" have been widely rumoured to be released, there are strong feelings coming fromthe label that "Just A Little Bit" will be released. Jennifer Lopez - Me Haces Falta

Here is the new video from Latin-Superstar Jennifer Lopez. This is the second single from J.Lo's first full-length Spanish album, Coma Ama Una Mujer, which was released earlier on this month. The video is classic Jennifer, sophisticated, smart and has a great eerie storyline. This is one of my favourite cuts from the new album, and I hope it repeats the success of the previous single "Qué Hiciste". The Spanish-language album has been a huge success, and has already sold a million copies worldwide. Jennifer's new english-language album is due this year, but for now here's the video for "Me Haces Falta". Enjoy!

Girls Aloud - Sexy! No,No,No... [New Single]

Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles premiered the new single from Girls Aloud on Friday. "Sexy! No, No, No..." is another fantastic single from Girls Aloud and is going to be huge. The beginning is really mysterious but then the trademark Girls Aloud chorus comes in and you realise how much you miss these girls! Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music [Video]

Rihanna premiered the video for "Don't Stop The Music" on BET yesterday. Rihanna is really rushing out the singles from her #1 third album "Good Girl Gone Bad". "Umbrella" is still #1 in the UK singles chart and second single "Shut Up And Drive" is fastly becoming another hit for Rihanna.
Rihanna recorded both videos for "Shut Up And Drive" and "Don't Stop The Music" back-to-back in Europe last month and they already becoming worldwide smashes. Doubtless, DSTM is going to be another huge hit for Rihanna and her label, Def Jam, have already announced plans for the 4th single from the album - "Hate That I Love You", a duet with Ne-Yo. I think she had better leave some time before releasing "Hate That I Love You" so that all 3 current singles can do big things in the charts. KT Tunstall - Hold On [New Video]

Britney Video Shoot Exclusive

Britney Spears has been recording the music video for the forthcoming comeback single "Get Back". The pictures below are Britney on the set of the new video, directed by Jake Nava (who also directed the music video for "Crazy In Love" by Beyoncé). Britney looks great and it is widely rumoured that the video will premiere next week and that she will perform at the MTV Music Awards which are coming soon. But for now, the exclusive photo's are good news that Britney's career is back on track!

Hot Pick: Danity Kane

This time last year, Aubrey, D. Woods, Aundrea, Shannon and Dawn had just won Sean "Diddy" Coombes TV show "Making The Band 3". They formed R&B/Hip-Hop bad Danity Kane and in 2006 had a top ten single "Show Stopper" and a number one album, which has since gone platinum. Second single "Ride For You" didn't reach the top half of the Billboard Hot 100 and Diddy reportedley lost interest in Danity Kane. Springtime, and the girls claimed they were working on their second album to be released before the end of 2007. However this month there have been reports that 2 members had left the bad to pursue other projects. However this week, the rumors of a split have been crushed by D. Woods who claimed they girls are still together and working hard on a follow-up to their #1 debut album. I hope this is true as Danity Kane are one of my favourite bands and their debut album was amazing. D. Woods said "no comment" when asked any questions about the lack of support from Diddy fuelling rumours that he has lost interest in the band. Whether or not Danity Kane have the support of Diddy, they still have a lot of support from their fans and music moguls alike.

Paula DeAnda - Easy [Video]

The video for Paula's fab new single "Easy" premiered late last night. Over the past year, Paula has been slowly making a name for herself in the states and this is her fourth single from her self-titled debut album. Despite the album version featuring Lil' Wayne, the single/video features Bow Wow. I prefer Lil' Wayne's rap in the song, but the song is still brilliant without him. As for the video, Paula comes across really well and her dancing is on-point, but for a 17 year old - the video is very grown-up! Take a look at the video here...

Kelly Rowland collapses in Nigeria

Kelly Rowland collapsed on stage last night whilst performing her hits at a concert in Nigeria. She was there promoting new album"Ms. Kelly", and reportedley collapsed due to dehyrdration and the heat of the country. Kelly has been promoting the album for about 2 months now and hasn't had a break and perhaps this is just nature's way of telling her to have a rest up. She has been flown back to the US to rest up before, sadly, returning to promote the CD. The video below is quite sad and you can tell the audience were horrified at what had just happend. Kat DeLuna - 9 Lives [Album]

The tracklisting for Kat DeLuna's album "9 Lives" has been revealed, and despite only being 11 tracks - the set looks brilliant. There are some great titles from the tracklisting including "Run The Show" and "Animal", whilst current single "Whine Up" and last months leaked track "Am I Dreaming" also feature. Kat's reputation is growing and growing and I'm sure this album will do brilliant on the charts when released in August. Perhaps a UK release will follow later on in the year? Here's the HQ video for Nelly Furtado's new single "Do It". The video is really edgy and cool and I really enjoyed it. However, it doesn't feature the remixed part by Missy Elliot. "Do It" is the new US single whilst "In God's Hands" will serve as the next UK single (to be released in August).

Janet Jackson News

The rumours are true. Janet Jackson has signed with Island Def Jam. The label, responsible for major artists such as Mariah Carey and Rihanna, has been the best move Janet has made in the last couple of years and it's a big step. Having been with Virgin for almost 15 years, Janet finished her album deal last September when her ninth studio album "20 Y.O." was released. I'm a huge fan of Janet and she is my favourite singer and I think this is a step in the right direction. Def Jam are known for supporting their artists and Janet's next album, to be released Summer 2008, is to be her first release with the label. Janet's last two albums "Damita Jo" and "20 Y.O." didn't match the success of her previous albums and Virgin had completely lost interest in Janet, who was their biggest-selling artist.
Billboard magazine spoke with Jermaine Dupri (head of the urban division at Def Jam and also Janet's long-term boyfriend) and he revealed the following...

"She's on Island, but it's more or less [Def Jam CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid's] project," Dupri says. "I let him deal with that on a day-to-day basis. He's going to A&R that project, too. Janet's record is one that he's wanted to do for a long time. He's very passionate about it.

As for the direction of Jackson's as-yet-untitled album, Dupri says, "I don't really know what he's got in mind at this point. His past record isn't shabby so I'm going to let him do what he's going to do. I'm going to do [the new] Mariah [Carey album], and we're going to make it seem like we're in competition to see who's going to have the biggest album of the year."

This is great news for Janet. I suspect the rumored collaboration between Janet and Mariah Carey might actually become truth.
Janet has been working on her 10th studio album for the last 2 months and has collaborated with Ne-Yo, Pharrel and many other prestigious R&B/Hip-Hop artist - as well as long-term producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

"Jennifer's new English single from her forthcoming English album will drop on AUGUST 7!! The song is indeed called "Hold It, Don’t Drop It" and it's produced by Midi Mafia."

A Jennifer Lopez official fansite, J.Lo Online, has confirmed details about Jennifer's upcoming english record. "Hold It, Don't Drop It" will be J.Lo's first english single in over 2 years and the upcoming record is expected to be upbeat and "danceable" according to Lopez herelf! Great news, I can't wait.

Bad News: "New Britney Single"

It appears that yesterdays post about Britney's new single being released to radio was all a hoax. The single was expected to be heard this morning but wasn't. I'm sure this is going to disapoint Britney's plethora of fans, but I'm not suprised. I still don't think Britney is ready with this new record yet, and when she is - she will premiere the first single in a big way, not just on the radio!

Kelly Clarkson - Sober [Live Performance]

Here's a fantastic live performance of the second single from Kelly's smash album "My December". Sober is a really dark song, Kelly puts so much emotion into her performances and her voice is so powerful. The song was officially sent to US radio today and I'm hoping that this will be a smash hit all over the world. I admit I didn't like this at first, but I really like it now and hope it does well. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Today The Sun's On Us [Video]

The video for SEB's third single from her "Trip The Light Fantastic" album was premiered on B4 a couple of days ago. The track, titled "Today The Sun's On Us", is very different to what we usually hear from Sophie - and I'm not too keen on it. It's a good pop/rock ballad, but there are other tracks on the album which are so much better, such as "Only One" - a personal favourite of mine. Hilary Duff - Stranger [Live Performance]

Its clear to see how Hilary Duff has grown up in the last couple of years. Her look is more stylish and her live performances just keep on getting better. First single from her current album "Dignity" was titled "With Love, and was a huge worldwide hit - and Hilary performed it live at every possible oppurtunity. Her peformances were brilliant and I'm sure her 2007 world tour this summer will be a total sell-out tour. Now the second official single from "Dignity" is the amazing yet haunting track "Stranger". Christina Aguilera is expecting her first child with husband Jordan Bratman, as confirmed by E! News. The couple have been happily married for almost 3 years now and its great they're having a baby. Does this mean we have to wait a while until we hear any new materiel from Christina after the 4 year gap between the last albums? I hope not. But for now, congratulations to them!

"Green Light", which featurs on B's sophomore album B'Day, is set to be the next single for the British market. It will be released on the 30th July backed by a remix by the Freemasons. The beside will be "If", which also features on the Deluxe Edition of B'Day.

I really love this track, but I really think Beyoncé has mucked up the singles up from this album. She has confused the public with the release of the videos from the B'Day Anthology album with "Ring The Alarm" and "Suga Mama" being played regularly on UK music channels - but never getting released. Nevertheless, I'm sure this song is going to be another smash for Beyoncé and the video is one of the best from the B'Day Anthology.
