Janet Jackson ruled the 80s and 90s, and whilst her 00s were met with controversy (Superbowl Halftime anyone?) Ms. Jackson still managed to score some hits, despite not reaching the dizzy heights of success she had in the first 15 years of her career. Her biggest hit of the past decade was no doubt "All For You" - a club banger, and classic Janet dance song. It was a #1 smash in the US (Janet's last #1 there) and reached high positions all over the world. Perhaps it will always remain Janet's last MASSIVE hit... anyone else love this song?

Blast From The Past: All Saints

All Saints...

All Saints are a British Girl Group which made it huge in the 90's and early 00's. They soon faded out but attempted a comeback in 2006, and are currently working on a 4th album to be released this year *hopefully*. Their sound was very unique and one of their highlights in their discography was "Pure Shoes". It was the theme to the Leonardo DiCaprio film "The Beach" and was co-produced with William Orbit. Blast From The Past: Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey is releasing her 11th studio album on April 14th. To celebrate, I've found one of Mariah's most classic video's "Heartbreaker". The track was a #1 single for Mariah back in 1999 and featured Jay-Z. A year later, 2000, Mariah was announced to be the best selling artist of the 1990's and the best selling female artist of all-time. What an achievement, and all before she's 40! Go Mariah, and congrats to MC on her 18th U.S. #1 for "Touch My Body". She is now only second to the Beatles for #1 singles! Enjoy the video!

Blast From The Past: Mary J. Blige

Mary J Blige is a successful singer/songwriter in the genre's of R&B/Hip-Hop and Soul. The video above shows Mary's breakthrough single - "Real Love". Taken from the album "What's The 411?", the single exploded and made Mary into the artist we all know and love know. 8 albums on, Mary is considered one of the greatest R&B aritst of all time, and rivals the likes of Mariah and Whitney. Still not hitting 40, Mary still has a lot in her and it's exciting to see what she will put out next.

Blast From The Past: Backstreet Boys

This week's Blast From The Past belongs to the Backstreet Boys. They are the biggest selling boyband of all time and have amassed many records throughout their 15 year career. They released their 5th album late last year, called "Unbreakable", and are currently touring. They come to London in May with the tour, but sadly the tickets have already sold out! Starting as a five-piece, BSB have lost a member, Kevin, since 2006. He left due to personal reasons and that he couldn't keep up with the gruelling BSB schedule. However the band are still going strong and throughout their career, they have notched up countless hits including: I Want It That Way, Larger Than Life, The Call, Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely, Quit Playing Games (With My Heart), All I Have To Give, Incomplete and mant more. Today I bring to you "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" which some argue to be their biggest hit. Everybody knows this song, it's classic - and so is the video! Take a look!

Blast From The Past: Vanessa Williams

Today's Blast From The Past is Vanessa Williams. The UglyBetty star had a pop/R&B career and she experience big success from the later 80's to late 90's. Since the millenium, she has concentrated on acting but has still managed to record a Christmas album and a Jazz album. She certainly has the voice, and also the looks - she won the 1981 Miss America competition! This song is "Happiness", and R&B hit from her 1997 album "Next". "Next" is my favourite Vanessa album -- pure gold, great R&B songs on there, shame it was her last studio album. Fingers crossed, Vanessa will head back into the studio for another album soon after her success on Ugly Betty.

Melanie C is currently back on the road with her bandmates as part of the biggest girl group of all time : THE SPICE GIRLS. Melanie C has also had a lot of success outside of the group and that's why she is the "Blast From The Past" in 2008! She has sold over 5 million albums worldwide and has co-written 12 #1 singles in the UK. This video is for "I Turn To You", which is her best selling single. Blast From The Past: Ace Of Base

Ace Of Base are a Swedish pop group who had a string of hits in the 90's They have reformed this year for a world tour, and it got me listening to their most succesful hit "All That She Wants". The video for the song is a bit lacking, but the song itself is awesome. Very catchy, everyone will singing along by the end of the video!

Shanice is an R&B singer. She has released 5 albums and many singles, including her biggest hit "I Love Your Smile". Released in 1991, the track reached #1 in over 10 countries plus the #2 spot in both the UK and the USA. The "Doo Doo Dooo" part of the song is still very well-known. The video is good too, and that's why I have chosen Shanice as Crazy Cool's Blast From The Past!

Blast From The Past: Dannii Minogue

Dannii Minogue is an australian singer/songwriter/actress who is, of course, the sister of Kylie Minogue. Personally, I don't like Kylie Minogue but I've always loved Dannii, espcially her music. The above video is for "All I Wanna Do", Dannii's lead single from her third album "Girl". The song reached #4 in the UK and #1 in the Club Charts. Dannii is the most successful artist on the Club and Dance Charts in the UK, with over 16 #1 Dance Singles. "All I Wanna Do" is Dannii's first dance-inspired song so I thought I would post this one today for our Blast From The Past.

Blast From The Past: Celine Dion

Blast From The Past is going to be a regular feature of my blog from now. I will post video's that I like from years ago. The first "Blast From The Past" artist is Celine Dion, and her huge hit "It's All Coming Back To Me Now". The single was released in 1996 from her multi-million selling album "Falling Into You". The video is almost 8 minutes long but it's worth it. It's a great piece of theatrical and dramatic work from Miss Dion, whose new album "Taking Chances" is out on November 13th. Take a look...
